Azadeh Khanicheh, Ph.D.

Dr. Khanicheh has over a decade of experience in design, development, and launch of innovative medical devices, and served different technical lead engineering positions at PENTAX Medical, BD Medical, and Helbing Technik. She led multiple innovation programs on different portfolios of medical devices and evaluated new technologies during this period. She has worked very closely with commercial and marketing experts in the medical device industry. The teams she has led in the past have brought several products from conception through to commercial launch. Dr. Khanicheh has a unique combination of technical and business experience and skills. She is one of the inaugural awardees of the MLSC’s Massachusetts Next Generation Initiative (MassNextGen).
Dr. Khanicheh received her Ph.D. from Northeastern University. She completed a Post Doctroal Research fellowship and a Visiting Research Scientist position at Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Harvard Medical School. She developed one of the first fMRI compatible devices during her tenure.
Christopher Thompson, MD
Co-Founder, Director
Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Director of Endoscopy & PI of the Developmental Endoscopy Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Thompson is the co-founder of Beacon Endoscopic (Sold to Coviden), GI Windows, and Enterasense. He is one of the seminal international thought leaders in the rapidly emerging new fields of Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) and Bariatric Endoscopy. Dr. Thompson is also a founding member of NOSCAR, which is an innovative SAGES/ASGE consortium setting the future guidelines and ingenuity supporting NOTES procedures. Dr. Thompson has functioned as a consultant and medical advisory board member for members of industry ranging from Fortune 500 companies, venture capital firms to entrepreneurial corporations.
Dr. Thompson received his MD degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed advanced Clinical and Research fellowships at Harvard Medical School.
